Enrolment Process for New Families

Families wishing to enrol their child/children at Ashwood Memorial Kindergarten (for the current or future years) should first complete a Kindergarten Central Registration Form

Registration forms are available at all Monash Kindergartens, Maternal & Child Health Centres and Council Offices.  Forms can also be downloaded from the Monash website at http://www.monash.vic.gov.au/Services/Children-Family/Kindergartens/Enrolment

Once this form is completed, and if places are available, Monash will send your details to us.  Our enrolment officer will then contact you to finalise the enrolment process.

The cut-off date for 2017 first round offers has passed (30th June 2016).  Registrations received now will not be considered in the first round of offers for 2107 but may be considered in subsequent rounds should vacancies still exist.

Information about 2017 Offers for Families already on Waiting Lists

 

1. Offers

  • Commencing in 2016, offers will come from Monash Council rather than the AMK enrolments officers.
  • Offers at all kindergartens are allocated to the Monash Criteria for Allocation of First Round Offers (see details below).
  • The first round of offers will be sent in August 2016 and will be sent via email.  4YO places are offered first, followed by 3YO places a few days later.
  • Families will have 2 weeks from the date of offer to take up their place.  Further offers will then be made until all places are filled or there are no more families on the AMK waiting list.

 

2. Enrolment

  • Families who accept a first round offer will be contacted by the AMK Enrolment Officer to nominate their preferred group/days if applicable.
  • A non-refundable deposit of $150 must be paid to confirm your place and group requests.
  • Group allocations will be made on a first-in first-served basis and are subject to teacher approval.
  • Families who have secured a place, will be contacted regarding the AGM and Information Evening which is held in October/November.  At this session, classes and teachers are confirmed and the Enrolment/Information Packs are distributed to families for completion.

Monash Criteria for Allocation of First Round Offers

The following criteria are used for determining the order in which offers are made:

4 Year Old

1. Monash resident or ratepayer
2. Children who qualify for Priority Placement (see details)
3. Children who attended 3YO
4. Siblings (up to 3 years)
5. Proximity to kinder

3 Year Old

1. Monash resident or ratepayer
2. Children who qualify for Priority Placement (see details)
3. Children repeating 3YO
4. Siblings (up to 3 years)
5. Proximity to kinder

 

Kindergarten Tours & Open Day

The kindergarten runs an Open Day in May of each year.  This is a great opportunity for new and existing families to come along and see what happens at kinder, meet and talk to the teachers and other parents and see what a fantastic environment AMK provides. Dates and details of the Open Day are published around the neighbourhood and on this website closer to the time.
